Let me know what you thought.Īt first glance, i thought the whole "defeating spirits" element was overused, but the way Natsume Yuujinchou does it is much different.
I recommend that everyone give this series a try, there is so much that it offers, and it would be sad to miss out on it. Over all, this series really makes one think about the workings of the heart, friendship, and trust. While it clearly shows some bridges have been crossed as far as story development, it was left open for either the viewer's interpretation or a third season. The ending of the season is especially pleasing. This is not true, and the reason is that most of the series is focused more on 'themes' as the main plot, with one story episodes rarely does a story or conflict go on for more then one episode. Some might say that this show is boring because of how mellow it can be. I especially liked the ending 'Aishiteru' by Kourin, her voice gave the lyrics a lonely but hopeful feel, it is very nostalgic. The opening and ending really complement the over all feel and message of the show. Other than that the animation is smooth and pleasing to the eyes. Sadly, one of the last episodes got a little sloppy,'little' being the key word as it is barely noticeable. With the light colors and almost paint brush feel of the scenery, along with the gentle soundtrack playing in the background, it just helps cement the feeling that the creators tried to create and pull off. The art and music really help to pull everything together. The show could only go so far with it's fascinating characters and heart catching stories. However, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding her, leading to fans hoping for the series continuation, if only to have the biggest questions about Reiko answered. It is also interesting to see how this season changes his relationship with Natsume, definitely not disappointing.Īnd the most pleasing is the better look into the past and character of Reiko Natsume's grandmother. Madara of course is the main source of humor, be it his comments and bad habits, or bantering with Natsume, he sometimes steals the show. Natsume is growing into someone very different from the first season, and it is very noticeable that it is because of what he experiences with his fellow cast and the problems that he helps the youkai solve along the way. More characters are introduced and the human characters have a stronger role as well. Madara, along with a growing friendship with Natori. It's enjoyable to see the almost sibling love between Natsume and You can see Natsume growing stronger bonds with characters introduced in the first season. It's heavy focus on loneliness and longing, is evened out with cheerfulness of love and friendship that Natsume experiences not only with the youkai he encounters but with his foster parents, school friends, and other humans.
Like it's prequel Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou has a very gentle feel to it.
I had really enjoyed the first season, and this one was even better. But I wouldnt mind seeing a 2-3 part epi as well, not that I mind episodic, it fits this anime nicely.I put off finishing Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou, the sequel to Natsume Yuujinchou, only because I didn't want it to end. Well really since every episode is episodic, Natsume says goodbye to the youkai he meets at the end, of course some come back, since Im assuming we'll see the ones that ermmm.the other youkai seeing guy.(I suck at names sometimes) has. My guess is Natsume will have to say goodbye to either Nyanko-sensei or one or both of his foster parents. I fear the two small farewells in eps 1 and 2 foreshadow a more significant and heartrending farewell later in the season. In both episode 1 and 2, we've had Natsume talk about his difficulty in dealing with farewells. I fear this time we're going to move from a lighter tone to a darker sadder one. In s1, we moved from fear and dark to a lighter tone.
However I worry whether this lighter tone will continue throughout the second season. Now, a few more months later, that bond is even stronger. We saw some of this change towards the end of s1. They've become like a long-time married couple, comfortable, accepting, and understanding of each other's quirks. They're no longer feeling their way around each other. Most of the increased humor is because the relationship between Natsume and Nyanko-sensei has become more comfortable. Ill say one thing, Zoku def has funnier moments then s1 did, I laughed a bit during s1 like with drunk Nyanko-Sensei but just in the 2 epis out so far, the interaction btwn Nyanko-Sensei and Natsume has been quite hilarious, in particular the snowball fight and Nyanko falling off the ledge but blaming Natsume.
